SHE’S KICK ASS!

Judy with Jasper the Donkey

Donkey Sanctuary Boss Judy Giles raised almost six thousand pounds for charity – by doing the London Marathon around a Penryn paddock!

The feisty animal lover beat the Corona Virus lockdown by storming through 78 laps of the top donkey paddock at Cornwall’s Flicka Foundation this April 26th.

Judy was all set to run London Marathon in aid of the animal sanctuary, until the event was cancelled in mid-March .

Determined not to be beaten, last Sunday she ran the full 26.2 miles while locked down at home.

Judy’s brave effort won her more than double her initial £2,620 target of £100 for every mile raced.

So far almost hundred well-wishers have pledged cash – coming up with a staggering £5,800 total.

Judy said: “”I was determined to do it for the donkeys!

“They suffered so much before we rescued them and they need us to continue to be there for them.”

She explained: “The crisis is a very worrying time for Flicka financially.

“The Government is not offering health crisis support to animal charities, so we are extremely anxious.”

The Flicka Foundation has rescued and rehabilitated over 1000 animals since its foundation in 1995.

Judy last ran a Marathon for the sanctuary eleven years ago: she said this time round was ‘more of a challenge’

The sixty-one year old confessed: “I felt like crawling around the paddock for the last few miles …but it was worth it!

“They deserve to live out the rest of their lives with loving care in a sanctuary.”
