IT’S 3-D DAY AT CULDROSE

Culdrose engineer Barney Barnett designed and manufactured a tailor-made flu mask for staff at Cornish health centres.

So far Barney’s team have supplied and shipped out 7,000 of his masks free to help Cornish health workers.

The warrant officer’s quest to protect front-line staff in the Duchy started when Mullion Health Centre reached out for help.

The inventive aircraft engineer used cutting-edge tech in double quick time to create and make the vital piece of PPE.

Culdrose has a dedicated 3-D invention hub. Barney and his boys have joined forces with three other 3-D design outfits across Cornwall to mass produce.

Barney’s mask is currently in use at GPs surgeries, hospitals, old folks homes, pharmacies – and freely available to anyone working in the Covid-19 front line.
